New Orleans Snowman Christmas Cards

Some years ago I painted my old Mr Bingle from Maison Blanche and made that painting into a Christmas cards. When I listed it for sale on the web I got a nasty letter from a lawyer for Dillard's who bought Maison Blanche and kept the rights to "Mr Bingle" ©. Seems I could not market my painting using the words" Mr. Bingle". However the painting is mine and the card created from my painting is mine so it is just a snowman now and sold here on the web.

Seems anyone can register anything now days and stop artists from painting things. I wonder what would have happened during the old days, I guess we would have a lot less paintings around.
If a snowman card is not your thing I have a lot more art on cards here- http://www.zazzle.com/figstreetstudio/cards

Here is anothe New Orleans Snowman on one of my ornaments-

More New Orleans ornaments sold here- http://www.cafepress.com/figstreetstudio/397833

here is a link to all of the New Orleans Snowman Christmas designs on all products http://www.cafepress.com/figstreetstudio/7295138

Even though I say "Not Mr. Bingle" a New Orleans snowman someone complained to Cafe Press and Cafe Press removed all my New Orleans Snowman designs. Seems whoever it is feels if it is a New Orleans Snowman it infringes on "Mr. Bingle" so I guess we will never have a New orleans Snowman if one image can exclude all others in that line.
I will paint now as many New Orleans Snowmen as I have time to do and offer them all for sale, not Mr. Bingle.

Christmas Ornament History

German settlers in Pennsylvania are said to have started the Christmas tree tradition in the USA..
The Christmas tree was popular in parts of Europe for a long time before coming to America.. In England Queen Victoria made Christmas trees fashionable by decorating the first English Christmas tree at Windsor Castle in 1841. The first Christmas tree to appear in the White House was erected in 1856 by President Franklin Pierce.
Christmas ornaments to decorate the tree were imported from Germany and Christmas tree popularity was in full swing the U.S by the 1900's. Some people made their own ornaments out of fruits and paper. Each Christmas I design new Christmas ornaments to add to the many already available at my Fig Street Art Studio store on the web.
This Christmas I have created several new designs and some using classic Christmas images. Stop in the store on the web or locally at Bucktown Pharmacy to see them. See the many New Orleans centered ornaments and Christmas cards sold at the Cafe Press, Fig Street Studio store.
